Entry requirements for Fiji

If arriving by air
Non-Fijian citizens (those that do not hold a Fijian passport) require approval from the Office of the Prime Minister for entry into Fiji. Contact the Office of the Prime Minister at pereeza.ali@ govnet.gov.fj

If planned travel is by sea (other than yachts using the Blue Lane pathway) Non-Fijian citizens require approval from the Office of the Prime Minister for entry into Fiji. Contact the Office of the Prime Minister at pereeza.ali@govnet.gov.fj

If arriving by yacht – using the Blue Lane pathway under the Fijian COVID Safe Economic Recovery Framework
Engage Port Denarau yacht agents who will then apply on your behalf to the COVID-19 Risk Mitigation Taskforce (CRMT). Yachts may only enter Fiji at Port Denarau (after obtaining the necessary approvals).

If requesting variation to the mandatory quarantine
14 days of government-supervised quarantine is mandatory for all travellers into Fiji, however variation to the location of quarantine may be considered in special circumstances where there is significant economic benefit to Fiji. In these circumstances the conditions of the government- mandated quarantine are replicated, with all costs incurred borne by the traveller.

This is also subject to government resource availability. These requests must be made well in advance for consideration by the CRMT at crmt@govnet.gov.fj Variations to government-supervised quarantine may also be considered on medical grounds. Please contact the CRMT at crmt@govnet.gov.fj

COVID-19 test requirement
Documented proof of a negative Covid-19 test is required for all foreign nationals seeking to enter Fiji. Fijian citizens departing countries determined as a high risk for COVID-19 may also need to be tested before departure (contact pereeza.ali@govnet.gov.fj or crmt@govnet.gov.fj for confirmation)

Approved COVID-19 tests
Acceptable tests for COVID-19 are quantitative RT-PCR or Cepheid GeneXpert (Xpert® Xpress SARS-CoV-2). For further options on the type of COVID-19 lab tests acceptable, please visit https:// www.finddx.org/covid-19/sarscov2-eval-molecular/molecular-eval-results/. Note that other rapid point of care RT PCR, or antigen/antibody tests are not accepted. A nasopharyngeal sample must be the sample tested.

Timing of test
The sample must be collected for testing at most 72hrs (3 days) before departure for Fiji. For example: if you are residing in country A and are booked to begin your travel to Fiji on a plane leaving on Friday July 24th – you need to have your nasopharyngeal sample taken for testing at earliest on Tuesday July 21st. In this case the result of a sample collected before Tuesday July 21st is not acceptable.

Format of test result
The negative test result must be in the form of an official result from the laboratory that conducted the test. This result should include the following information:
The laboratory letter head and laboratory contact details, patient details, type of sample collected, date of sample collection, date test was conducted, type of test conducted, lab sample number, and name of lab supervisor/staff signing off on the result.

Symptom and temperature screening
All travellers entering Fiji must undergo a temperature and symptom check by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) officials upon arrival at the port of entry. If symptoms of COVID-19 are present a nasopharyngeal swab sample will be collected for a COVID-19 RT-PCR test at the cost of the traveller (if not a Fijian citizen) and the MHMS protocol for suspected cases will be applied. If the test is positive, he or she must remain in isolation under the care of MHMS but if the test is negative he or she will be released to complete the mandatory 14-day quarantine.

Mandatory 14 day quarantine
All travellers into Fiji will be required to complete supervised quarantine for 14 days.

Quarantine for travellers arriving by air
Quarantine will be for at least 14 days in a government designated quarantine facility (hotels) under the direct supervision for the MHMS and Republic of Fiji Military Forces.

Quarantine for travellers on yachts travelling under the Blue Lane Blue Lane pathway under the Fijian COVID Safe Economic Recovery Framework
The number of quarantine days will be calculated by subtracting the number of uninterrupted sailing days from 14 days. Uninterrupted sailing days are days where the yacht has not stopped at any port nor been embarked by other persons, or where the persons on board have not disembarked. For example, a yacht sailing seven uninterrupted days would only be required to quarantine for seven days in Fiji. Meeting with other yachts at open sea and/or stopping at Minerva Reef will count as interrupting sailing days and the quarantine clock will be reset.

If there are less than 14 days of uninterrupted sailing, the yacht will be quarantined at a safe harbour in Port Denarau under surveillance by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF)/Fiji Navy for the period of the remaining days.

Regular symptom and temperature screening during quarantine
MHMS officials will conduct regular temperature and symptom checks. If symptoms of COVID-19 are present a nasopharyngeal swab sample will be collected for a COVID-19 RT-PCR test at the cost of the traveller (if not a Fijian citizen). The Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) protocol for suspected cases will be applied. If the test is positive, he or she must remain in isolation under the care of MHMS but if the test is negative he or she will be released to complete the mandatory 14 day quarantine.

End of quarantine COVID-19 test
If the traveller remains asymptomatic during quarantine- a nasopharyngeal swab sample collected for a COVID-19 RT-PCR test with a negative test result required before release from quarantine. The cost of the test will be borne by the traveller (if not a Fijian citizen)

Fiji's format of the COVID-19 test result

Ni sa bula vinaka and greetings from the Fiji High Commission

Following announcement and advice from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, the Mission would hereby like to convey the format of the COVID-19 test result that everyone traveling to Fiji has to adhere to.

It should be noted that failure to submit the documentation within the 72 hours of departure and failure to submit in the format (see Sample of lab test), could possibly lead to them being denied entry.

The Mission would therefore like to urge you all to take note and ensure compliance of this critical condition/requirement (see Requirements of the COVID-19 test).

Vinaka Vakalevu
